Green Point + Mouille Point

Green Point, another top choice, is close to the promenade, Green Point Park and V&A Waterfront. It’s slightly quieter than Sea Point and also offers good restaurants, coffee spots, and grocery stores. Fun fact: Many nomads choose this area because it’s close to the popular Deli Giovanni’s, where you can get the most delicious takeaway meals at a very good price, making life easy!

Gardens + Tamboerskloof

Known for its leafy streets, charming Victorian houses, and proximity to vibrant Kloof Street and Bree Street, living here means being close to all the hotspots and eateries. If you can find an apartment high enough, you’ll have an amazing view of Table Mountain, especially during sunsets. It’s advisable to avoid living on Long Street, Loop Street, or next to Long Street, but Bree Street and Kloof Street are fine. 

Bo-Kaap

Renowned for its rich cultural heritage and Cape Malay community, Bo-Kaap is famous for its colorful houses, cobblestone streets, and iconic mosques. It’s within walking distance of vibrant Bree Street and Kloof Street. Keep in mind that it’s a slightly less safe area, and you might be bothered by the sound of prayers from the mosque while you’re sleeping.

Waterkant

This neighbourhood exudes a trendy and cosmopolitan atmosphere, with numerous cafes, coworking spaces, and boutique shops. While it’s a bit further away from the beach and mountains, it’s still worth considering.

Oranjezicht

Oranjezicht is a picturesque and affluent residential area known for its stunning views of Table Mountain and the cityscape. It’s a very safe and quiet neighborhood characterized by its leafy streets, beautiful historic homes, and proximity to popular attractions like Table Mountain.

Vredehoek

Vredehoek is a trendy and increasingly popular neighborhood nestled on the slopes of Table Mountain. It offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city and the surrounding mountains. Although it’s slightly less safe and farther away from the town compared to Oranjezicht, many people love living here. The area is known for its numerous hiking and biking trails nearby. 

CBD and District Six

These are not our favorite areas to stay. The CBD can be hectic and busy during the day and not the safest at night. Additionally, parking options are limited. However, if you rely heavily on battery power and want to avoid load shedding, the CBD is the place for you since this area is not affected by load shedding.

Woodstock/Observatory

If you’re seeking an affordable stay, these creative and up-and-coming neighborhoods are ideal. Known for their artistic vibe, trendy cafes, and proximity to the city center, they are popular among students and young professionals. You’ll discover plenty of cool vintage shops, cafes, and restaurants here. It takes about 10-15 minutes to drive to Kloof Street and Sea Point, so if that suits you, it’s a really nice area to stay.

Camps Bay/Clifton

For those seeking a more luxurious lifestyle, Camps Bay or Clifton stands out as the perfect choice, renowned for their pristine sandy beaches. Residing in Camps Bay/Clifton provides direct access to the beach mere steps from your doorstep, along with a vibrant strip of restaurants and bars.

Blouberg

If you’re coming for kitesurfing, Blouberg is the place to stay. Although it doesn’t offer much else in terms of attractions, it’s a safe area with a thriving community, making it easy to meet new people. Located on the outskirts of Cape Town, Blouberg offers beautiful beachfront views of Table Mountain.
